The Mecila Sabbatical Senior Fellowship 2027 in Brazil offers experienced scholars a unique opportunity to conduct independent research on conviviality and inequality at the Maria Sibylla Merian International Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences. This fully funded six-month fellowship covers travel costs and provides a housing allowance, allowing fellows to focus full-time on their research while engaging with a diverse international network.

Mecila is a joint project of leading German and Latin American research institutions, including Freie Universität Berlin, Universidade de São Paulo, and El Colegio de México. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, the Centre fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and aims to advance understanding of how conviviality and inequality are co-constituted in everyday life and institutions.
