International Major Entrance Scholarship: To be considered for the IMES, you must
- Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school or post-secondary (university or college)
- Be an international learners who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your IMES eligibility.)
- Demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and intellectual promise, as well as impressive extracurricular and community involvement
- Apply to UBC by January 15
Outstanding International Student Award: To be considered for an OIS Award, you must
- Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school or post-secondary (university or college)
- Be an international holder studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your education eligibility.)
- Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and strong extracurricular involvement
- Apply to UBC by January 15
International Leader of Tomorrow Award: To be considered for an International Leader of Tomorrow Award, you must
- Be applying for your first undergraduate degree
- Be admissible to the first-choice degree you are applying to, including meeting UBC’s English Language Admission Standard
- Have an excellent academic record (at least an “A” average or equivalent standard)
- He an international student – neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada – and be studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit (student visa)
- Demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise prevent you from pursuing a UBC degree
- Be entering a UBC undergraduate degree program from a recognized secondary school, college, or other universities.
Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award: To be considered for the Donald A. Wehrung International applicants Award, you must:
- Be an international pupils – neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada – and be studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit (student visa)
- Come from a war-torn, or politically unstable region of the world, and/or from an economically disadvantaged region of the world
- Have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances, with no financial means from family or other sources to pursue post-secondary education (neither in your own country because it is unavailable or unattainable, nor outside your country, because it is unaffordable)
- Be graduating or have recently graduated from a recognized senior secondary school
- Be applying for your first undergraduate degree
- Be able to demonstrate superior academic achievement (at least an “A” average or equivalent standard) and leadership potential.
