The Fully Funded LSA Collegiate Fellowship at University of Michigan in USA is open to all nationals. Scholarship Benefits

  • LSA Collegiate fellows will receive a salary of $66,000, along with benefits and funds to cover research and conference expenses for up to two years.
  • During the University of Michigan fellowship, fellows will focus on their independent research and engage in academic development, including participating in the LSA Teaching Academy and classroom teaching.
  • In addition, every LSA Collegiate fellow will have the opportunity for a tenure-track position, which will begin immediately after the fellowship. Candidates may be directly hired into tenure-track positions through this program.
  • Whether scholars begin with an LSA fellowship or are directly appointed to the tenure track, the offers will include competitive salaries, support for research, and appropriate benefits aligned with assistant professors in the relevant departments.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • The University of Michigan LSA Collegiate Fellowship is open to scholars across various fields within the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA), including humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
  • For those in the natural sciences, doctoral degrees should be obtained between 1 January 2020 and 1 July 2025.
  • For social sciences or humanities applicants, doctoral degrees must be completed between 1 January 2022 and 1 July 2025. (For applicants in the Department of Economics, it is 31 August 2025).
  • Moreover, candidates who have received a PhD from the University of Michigan or currently hold a postdoctoral, faculty, or staff position at the University of Michigan are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must show a firm dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion while highlighting exceptional scholarly achievements that match the core values of their respective departments.
  • Some programs might prioritize applicants with the potential for effective teaching and mentoring activities.

  • Curriculum Vitae/CV
  • Scholarship/Research Statement including your plan for research during the fellowship period (2-3 pages)
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion statement, showcasing how you have engaged with these values in your scholarship, teaching, mentoring, or service (1-3 pages)
  • A statement about your teaching philosophy, drawing from your teaching and mentoring experiences (1-3 pages)
  • Dissertation abstract (1 page)
  • Writing samples (2-3 samples, each not exceeding 35 pages. This can include published/unpublished research papers, journal articles, or dissertation chapters)
  • Three reference letters (maximum of four). Applicants must not submit reference letters on behalf of their referees.
