Introduction

Danish Government is now accepting applications for Long-Term scholarships in 2020 academic year. The studentships are only available to masters and PhD-level students. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years.

The Danish government awards under the Cultural Agreements are aimed at highly qualified exchange students wishing to immerse themselves in studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark.

The Ministry aims to create knowledge, growth and welfare in Denmark as it takes its place in an increasingly globalised world. The Ministry’s vision is to create the best possible conditions for research, study and innovation in Europe.

Benefits

  • Scholarships include free tuition and a monthly stipend of DKK 6,500.
  • Some Danish higher education institutions may choose to charge a fee in conjunction with PhD. courses.
  • Danish government awards can be used to cover travel, visa, accommodation, food, and other living expenses. The bursaries are for one person only. Additional amounts for accompanying family members are not available.
  • Participants may be liable to pay tax on their award in the Kingdom of Denmark. Therefore, scholarship recipients should contact the local tax authorities for an individual assessment. In the event that the Danish tax authorities decide that a scholarship is taxable, the Agency for Science and Higher Education has no power to overturn the decision.

Eligibility

Eligible Countries: Students from Brazil China Egypt Japan Republic of Korea and Russia can apply for these Danish government awards.

Entrance Requirements: The studentships are only available to masters and PhD-level students. However, bachelor’s degree students wishing to study Danish language and literature can also apply if they have studied the Danish language for two years. The studentships are offered to exchange students and young research scientists from higher education institutions in the following countries: Brazil China Egypt Japan Republic of Korea and Russia

Others

Danish is the normal language of instruction at institutions of higher education in Denmark, but more and more institutions offer courses in English or in another foreign language or have special arrangements for non-Danish students.
